About Us
Overview
Our club features multiple leagues for competitive play whether you're a veteran or a beginner, as well as opportunities for casual play and practice. And after your game, why not come to our in-house bar upstairs, a great place to socialise with fellow players and make new friends.
Throughout the year, we host multiple events and tournaments for our community to enjoy. Our facilities are also available to be booked for events, and our volunteers are more than happy able to assist with hosting corporate socials. Please contact us for more details.
A Brief History
The Guernsey Bowls Stadium stands on the site of an old warehouse and concrete works. In 1984, four rinks were laid by members of the Guernsey Indoor Bowling Association, and five years later the rinks were re-laid with a new floor whilst the remainder of the building was totally refurbished. During this time the popularity of bowls in Guernsey grew considerably, and in 1988 a six-rink extension was built, which included a first floor viewing gallery and a bowls shop.
Today, the stadium has six rinks and is part of a much larger ‘Hougue Du Pommier’ building complex consisting of the Guernsey Table Tennis Association Centre and Aztech Soccer. The stadium has hosted international events and test matches, and players from across the world having rolled bowls on our Greens. Guernsey men and women have ventured afield too, with our Club being home to several National and World Champions over the years.

What is Bowls?
-
1. The aim of each team is to roll their biased bowls (hence the bending) on the ground so that they finish closer to the jack (the white/yellow ball) than the opposing team’s bowls. For each bowl that finishes closer to the jack than the closest opposing bowl, one shot is scored.
-
2. Matches are played to a specific score or to a fixed number of ends. Singles matches tend to be played to a specific score, whilst team matches are played to a certain number of ends or a set time. An end is completed when all players in both teams have played their bowls to the jack.
- 3. The person or team with the highest score at the end of the match wins. As mentioned, the bowls that you'll play with with have a bias, and in order to play the game you'll need to roll the bowl in the right direction and at the correct speed so that the bias will bring it back to the target. Simple!
